    What Is a 905 Run & Tap Connector ?

        DESCRIPTIONS

905 Run & Tap Connector (TP-1310-905) is used to electrically connect a wire end (tap) to a through (run) wire and insulate the connection. It is a type of electrical connector used in electrical installations to join or tap into an existing electrical conductor, typically a main electrical wire or cable (the "run"), in order to create a connection for an additional branch circuit or device (the "tap"). These connectors are designed to facilitate safe and secure electrical connections without the need for cutting or splicing the main conductor.

This single-pin version features a reliable metal contact blade that pierces the insulation of both the run and tap wires without stripping, enabling a fast, permanent electrical connection. A color-coded red polypropylene housing provides mechanical strength and identification for the wire range it supports. The inner contact is made of tin-plated brass, offering corrosion resistance and stable electrical performance over time.

The connector housing securely holds the wires in place while the pin is pressed into the metal blade, completing the electrical tap. The design eliminates the need for soldering or wrapping, thereby improving efficiency, especially in field installation environments.

        MAIN FEATURES

    • Tap Connection: The primary function of a Run & Tap Connector is to create a secure electrical connection between the main conductor (run) and the additional branch conductor (tap). The tap conductor is typically a smaller wire or cable that needs to draw power or connect to the main electrical circuit.
    • Ease of Installation: Many Run & Tap Connectors are designed for easy installation without the need for specialized tools. The compression connectors may require a compression tool for proper installation.
    • Mechanical Strength: Run & Tap Connectors are typically designed to withstand mechanical stress and ensure a stable and secure connection even in environments with vibration or movement.
    • Secure Connection: Despite their small size, these connectors provide a secure and reliable electrical connection. They are designed to maintain good electrical conductivity and resist vibration and tension, ensuring a stable connection over time.
    • Self-Stripping Design: With its integrated metal blade contact, the connector eliminates the need to manually strip insulation from either the run or tap wires. The blade pierces through the insulation layers as the connector closes, exposing the conductor without damaging the wire strands.
    • Red Color Housing: The connector features a standard blue color-coded housing that allows easy identification during installation or inspection. The color denotes its wire size range according to industry standards and simplifies inventory sorting.
    • Hinged Snap Closure: Ensures the connector remains closed under vibration or movement, locking both wires securely inside.
